The SUN Supportive Housing Network Needs Your Help

Picture

The SUN Committee works to connect people who have experienced long-term homelessness with safe, affordable housing and the supports needed to maintain it. Since its inception in April 2010, SUN Committee has helped re-house 154 chronically and episodically homeless people.

You can help end chronic homelessness!  The SUN Committee moves approximately 3 to 5 people out of long-term, persistent homelessness each month and a broad range of supports are needed.
How can you help?  We are  always looking for gently-used furniture & household items, movers and shakers to help us on move day, and organizations or groups interested in donating 'Welcome Baskets' to help individuals settle into their new homes.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING NETWORK

Ending Homelessness - one person at a time

SUN is a partnership between the Department of Social Development's  Housing Division and community stakeholders who work collaboratively in order to support the successful transition and sustainable tenancy of people who have experienced long-term homelessness who have been allocated an affordable housing unit.

Prior to SUN Committee, traditional services for people experiencing homelessness in Fredericton, much like the rest of the country, focused on supporting people with other issues, including mental health and addictions, before providing housing.  SUN Committee recognizes that people are better equipped to recover from these complex challenges when first provided with access to safe, affordable housing.
